Emission control devices, fuel additive, and fuel composition changes.
نویسنده
چکیده
Emission control devices are installed to meet the exhaust standards of the Clean Air Act for carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons, and it is necessary to know, from a public health point of view, how exhaust emissions may be affected by changes in fuel additives and fuel composition. Since these topics are concerned with developing technologies, the available literature on exhaust emission characteristics and the limited information on health effects, is reviewed.

Investigation ofthe Effects of Oxygenate and Nitrate Component Additives on Physico-Chemical Properties and Exhaust Emission of Diesel Fuel
This study evaluates the effect of additives on diesel and of additive-ethanol-diesel fuel blends on the density, viscosity, cetane number, flash point, boiling point, distillationand performance in engine tests. An additive is used to keep the blends homogenous and stable, and an ignition improver, which can enhance cetane number in ethanol-diesel fuel blends. The formulations were carried out ...
متن کاملDetermination of the effects of bioethanol-diesel fuel blends containing Beraid ED10 additive on engine performance and emissions in a diesel engine with a pump injection system
In the present study, the effects of bioethanol-diesel fuelBeraid ED10 additive blends on engine performance and emissions were investigated on a four-stroke, three-cylinder, water-cooled, turbocharged diesel engine with a pump injection fuel system. Low-sulphur Eurodiesel fuel, BE5 (5% bioethanol – 93% euro diesel – 2% Beraid ED10), BE10 and BE15 fuels were used in the experiments. The changes...
متن کاملOptimization-based non-linear Control Law with Increased Robustness for Air Fuel Ratio Control in SI Engines
In spark ignition (SI) engines, the accurate control of air fuel ratio (AFR) in the stoichiometric value is required to reduce emission and fuel consumption. The wide operating range, the inherent nonlinearities and the modeling uncertainties of the engine system are the main difficulties arising in the design of AFR controller. In this paper, an optimization-based nonlinear control law is a...
متن کاملNumerical study of the effect of fuel injection timing on the ignition delay, performance parameters and exhaust emission of gas/dual fuel diesel engine using Computational Fluid Dynamics
Today, due to the various usage of compression ignition engines in urban transportation, as well as the need to reduce exhaust emissions and control fuel consumption, the use of alternative fuels has become common in diesel engines. Gaseous fuel is one of the most common alternative fuels that can be used in diesel engines. The utilization of alternative fuels in compression ignition engines re...
متن کاملImproving the combustion and emission characteristics of ISM 370 diesel engine by hydrogen addition and redesigning injection strategy
Hydrogen fuel is the cleanest fuel available. This fuel can be used as an additive in the diesel engine. Diesel engines have the advantages of strong power, high thermal efficiency and low fuel costs. There have been extensive studies on the use of hydrogen fuel in diesel engines in recent years. However, the simultaneous effect of using gaseous hydrogen fuel and changing injection strategy nee...
